Turtles need sunbathe in order to maintain a healthy disposition. This is because sunbathing allows the turtle’s wet skin and shell to be dried, preventing skin disease as well as taking in UV rays to create Vitamin D3, which aids in the absorption of calcium.
Periodically getting out of the water helps the turtle's body temperature regulation. That's why while giving them a sunbathe UV rays, it's necessary to monitor the aquarium overall temperature, for not make the water hot.
